Laboratory and pilot plant facilities

The pilot plant and laboratory facilities in Hofors are located in a separate building with a highbay area serviced by a travelling crane having a 10 tonne capacity.

The following systems and services are available:

• Three independent plasma power supply systems,
  thyristor controlled, with a capacity of 2MW and
  8MW and one DC Arc furnace, 1MW.

• Injection systems for pneumatic transport and injection
  of raw material feeds and particulate fuels.

• Two independent furnace operating areas with facilities for offgas collection and treatment and high-temperature product handling.

• Associated utility supply including high
  pressure cooling water, oxygen, nitrogen,
  argon, compressed air, LPG etc.

• Associated laboratory facilities including gas chromatographs,
  mass spectrometer, atomic absorption, wet chemistry etc. Integral
  mechanical and electrical sitops including welding, pipefitting,
  instrumentation etc.

• Several high-temperature furnaces and reactors for pilot plant testing
  of processes and concepts; facilities
  for inhouse testing and contruction
  of additional systems as needed.
